I adore Little Debbie Christmas Tree Cakes and eagerly await their arrival on store shelves during the holiday season! For the past couple of years, I've been transforming these tasty treats into cake balls! Little Debbie Christmas Tree Cakes used to be difficult to locate, but this Christmas season, I've noticed them all over my local grocery stores! If they're not in the snack cakes aisle at your grocery store, check the end caps or near the front entrance!

How to Make Little Debbie Christmas Tree Cake Balls

Step 1: Line a sheet pan or baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside. Unwrap the Little Debbie cake and place trees in a large bowl or the bowl of a stand mixer with the paddle attachment. Add the frosting and vanilla extract. Using a hand mixer or stand mixer, mix until all ingredients are fully combined. The mixture will be thick and sticky which is perfect!

Ingredients ready to be mixed.

Step 2: Using a small scoop (cookie scoop), roll into a ball. Place each cake ball on the baking sheet. Once all batter is formed into cake balls, place in the refrigerator or freezer until they are solid. NOTE: If you try to dunk/dip room temperature cake balls into the almond bark, they will fall apart!

Step 3: Melt almond bark in a microwave-safe bowl in the microwave at 30 second intervals, stirring after each cook time, until the candy coating is smooth. Using a fork, dip each cake ball into the the melted almond bark or spoon the melted chocolate over the top and side of the ball. Tap the fork on the side of the bowl to remove excess chocolate and put back on the baking sheet or onto a separate parchment-lined baking sheet. While the candy coating is still wet, immediately sprinkle with the green sanding sugar. Allow candy coating to dry.
