Marble Squares

These delicious cookie-like bars will remind you of a chocolate chip cookie, but the chocolate chips are melted and swirled into the dough. They are soft, chewy and so delicious!

Marble Squares

This vintage and easy recipe came from my mother-in-laws collection. I can't remember having them with her, but she made a lot of good sweets and took them to her church for after service. Lucky for all of us, I found this delicious recipe that is very much like a chocolate chip cookie, only in a bar with a swirl! I think you will love Marble Squares because they are made with simple ingredients you likely have in your pantry; they have a soft yet chewy texture with crisp edges and loaded with delicious chocolate flavor!

What You Need

  • Butter

  • White Sugar

  • Dark Brown Sugar

  • Large Egg

  • Vanilla Extract

  • All Purpose Flour

  • Baking Soda

  • Salt

  • Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips

Tips for Making Marble Squares

  • Mix up the kind of chocolate chips - use semi-sweet chocolate chunks, milk chocolate chips, white chocolate chips or dark chocolate chips!

  • This is a great small batch recipe; if you want more (and you just might), double the recipe and put in a 9x13-inch pan.

  • A good idea is to chill the dough before baking which can improve the texture and flavor because chilling solidifies the fat, which makes it chewier.

  • If you're a fan, add a little flaky sea salt!
