Milk Chocolate Almond Bars

If you are a lover of chocolate and almonds, this kind of recipe is for you (no candy thermometer required!). It's an easy to follow recipe that comes together quickly!

I have had this recipe for a long time! A friend shared this recipe with me way, way back in the early 1990's!

What You Need

  • Unsalted Butter: make sure the butter is softened before you start

  • Brown Sugar: dark or light brown sugar will work

  • All Purpose Flour

  • Salt

  • Milk Chocolate Chips: any brand will work

  • Chopped almonds: you can purchased almonds already chopped in the baking aisle

Tips for Making Milk Chocolate Almond Bars

  • Use a hand mixer to combine the butter and brown sugar or a stand mixer with a paddle attachment

  • Sifting the all purpose flour makes the flour much lighter and airier and is easier to mix into other ingredients when making batter

  • If using whole almonds or almond slices, take the time to chop them into small pieces

  • If you prefer dark chocolate, you may substitute with dark chocolate chips (or white chocolate chips if that is your preference) instead of milk chocolate chips

How to Make Milk Chocolate Almond Bars

Only 6 simple ingredients that you likely have on hand, the bars come together in just minutes and bake up quickly!

Step 1:  Heat oven to 350°F and prepare a 9x13-inch baking pan with nonstick cooking spray or line with parchment paper. Sift together the flour and salt and set aside.

Step 2:  In a large bowl (or the bowl of a stand mixer), cream butter with the brown sugar and beat on medium speed until creamy. Slowly added the dry ingredients to the mixture and continue mixing slowly until all ingredients are fully combined. Evenly press the cookie dough like mixture into the prepared 9x13-inch pan and the baking time is 20 minutes or until golden brown.

Step 3: For the middle layer, immediately add the milk chocolate chips over the top of the cookie base and spread. Top with the chopped almonds. For best results, allow the bars to cool for about 20 minutes on a wire rack then cut into squares.

How to Store Milk Chocolate Almond Bars

Allow the bars to cool completely. Cut and transfer the bars to an airtight container with parchment paper between layers. You may store at room temperature in a cool, dry place for 5 days. You may store in a freezer bag for up to three months. Remember to date your bag before freezing.
