This Texas Caviar recipe is made with black beans, corn, tomatoes, onions, picante sauce and a combination of spices for a delicious appetizer at your next party or tailgate!
I have a recipe for Texas Caviar, also known as Cowboy Caviar, from my sister and from a few friends and they are all a little different - some with a vinaigrette dressing, some with a lime dressing, and some, like this recipe, with a picante sauce base. I took a couple of recipes and sort of made my own with ingredients I thought brought out good flavor on your tortilla chip! The longer this chills in the fridge and the flavors combine, the better it is. This is the perfect recipe for your potluck, Summer BBQ, or tailgate!
What You Need
Corn, drained
Diced Tomatoes, drained
Black Beans, drained and rinsed
Green Onions, chopped
Picante Sauce
Cilantro, fresh
Cumin
Salt
Pepper

How to Make Texas Caviar
Once you've got all of the ingredients in the bowl, combine well and then wait patiently until you can dig in!
Step 1: Open and drain all canned items. Rinse the black beans. Pour all canned items into a large bowl and combine.
Step 2: Chop a small bunch of green onion and add to the bowl with canned items. Add picante sauce, cilantro, cumin, salt and pepper and toss to combine all ingredients.
Allow the Texas Caviar to chill for a couple of hours before serving with tortilla chips.
How To Store Texas Caviar
Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days.
This is such a yummy appetizer, I hope you give it a try! It's Forkin' Good!
